CSS3: Media Queries in the Wild

posted on 30th March 2011 by Colin Oakes with the tags: "", "", "" .
Media Queries

Media Queries are here! The new, ‘hip’ approach to fluid web development. This awesome CSS technique allows web developers to provide multiple site layouts based on the width of the web browser. Percentage based tables, eat your heart out!

An excellent article on A List Apart, “Responsive Web Design” by Ethan Marcotte, was the first time I heard of this technique.

Anaglyph, for those that don’t know, are the images with red and cyan in them which require red and cyan glasses to be able to see them in the manner which they were created to be seen.

Obviously, most people don’t just have 3D glasses laying around when browsing the WWW – so is this just a mimic and a bit of fun? This post showcases a few examples of anaglyph web design which are well worth checking out.

Impressive Examples Of Minimalism In Web Design (Part Two)

Minimalism in web design is a very popular trend at the moment and there is a great reason to why that is. It makes the usability of a site look superb, and in general the majority of people like the look of minimal and clean designs – you’d be surprised at how many sites suffer from user loss just because they’re not 100% happy with how it looks or works.

Part two of this showcase features a selection of impressive and rather beautiful examples of the minimalism trend in web design. What do you think of minimal designs?
