people don’t speak irish you fool!! its called Gaelic. you fecking idiot.

@Aidan: First of all, it’s Irish Gaelic, to avoid confusion with Scottish Gaelic. Secondly, it’s much more commonly known as Irish now. Gaelic is more it’s second name. For example, check http://translate.google.com/ – you can translate English to Irish.

Also, to back this up, I found this: “The language is usually referred to in English as Irish. The term Irish Gaelic is often used when English speakers discuss the relationship among the three Goidelic languages (Irish, Scottish Gaelic, and Manx) or when discussion of Irish is confused to mean Hiberno-English, the form of English as spoken in Ireland.”.

    No need to swear.

@Aidan I am not sure if you were born and raised in Ireland but I was and I am often asked in the US if I speak Gaelic and I do correct people when I am asked. The Irish people speak Irish (Gaelige). I really have only heard the term Gaelic in America just like brogue instead of accent. For instance in the US I see Celtic and think “Kel-tick” not “Cell-tick” and my name is Irish and pronounced “Keira” not “Siera”. I hope this clears up the issue you had with the article. Callum was correct as is my website, and your not entirely wrong in your thinking if you are American.
